New Kids On The Block and Backstreet Boys on Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve 2011

The New Kids on the Block were the correct response to a Jeopardy clue yesterday! The clue was "The Backstreet Boys and this boy band joined forces in usher in 2011". So why no re-visit that event?  Here's a video of NKOTBSB's appearance on Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve! Side note: Crazy to think this is the first time Donnie Wahlberg and Jenny McCarthy met (Jenny talks about it at 14:15)!

NKOTB at House of Blues in Boston on 12-20-2009

Twelve years ago today the New Kids on the Block did a special performance at the House of Blues in Boston to raise money for Toys For Tots. This unique concert featured Christmas songs such as Merry Merry Christmas, Funky Funky Christmas, Last Night I Saw Santa Claus, The Christmas Song, O Holy Night, and even Danny Wood's favorite Christmas song: "This One's for the Children". The show also included a rare performance of the NKOTB song "Coming Home", a performance of "Full Service" featuring a surprise appearance by Johnny Gill and Ricky Bell from New Edition, and of course the memorable "Mistletoe Magic" (each of the guys kiss a lucky fan in the audience!). Watch all the highlights below!

NKOTB performance with The Stylistics

Earlier this week the New Kids on the Block announced they will be sharing the stage with their idols New Edition for the first time ever on the American Music Awards. This reminds me of the time they had the opportunity to share the stage with another one of their influences: The Stylistics!  Here's a clip of them performing "You Make Me Feel Brand New" on October 7, 2016 at Arcada Theater in St. Charles, IL.

Joey McIntyre's performance of Aerosmith's "Walk This Way"

Joey was recently a guest on the podcast "Waiting for Impact" by Dave Holmes (Click here to listen). In that episode Dave mentioned an old appearance by Joey on the TV show "Say What Karaoke" where he sang the old Aerosmith song "Walk This Way" with Jamie-Lynn Sigler. This is the video:

NKOTB The Main Event full concert

Back in 2015 Live Nation and Yahoo broadcasted live from the New Kids on the Block's concert in Dallas, Texas. This was the Main Event Tour - the only tour since the reunion that they performed concerts "in the round". The stage also featured elevated platforms which were incorporated into their choreography. This tour featured a live band (watch at 52 minutes in - we miss you Rob Lewis!) and had a great set list including some lesser known songs from the album 10. It was also featured short solo sets by Jordan (Baby I Believe in You/Give It To You), Joey (sweet Dreams/Twisted) and Donnie (I Need You/Lean on Me/Cover Girl). This particular show was on Danny's birthday and at about hour and 4 minute mark they take a break to sing happy birthday to him, and then a young Griffin McIntyre came on stage at sing "Tonight" with the group.

Thanks to "Jordan Knight Lovers" on YouTube for saving this footage and sharing.

Jordan Knight was in an unreleased TV show pilot; plus a look back at his history of being a talent show judge

I saw this post on Instagram the other day talking about about a TV pilot that Jordan Knight filmed back somewhere around 2005 that was never released. It was called "It Is What It Is". According to bluazur_official on Instagram, it was a music show similar to "American Idol" except with more "everyday people" that didn't necessarily have the vocal talent.

Did you know Jordan was also a judge in a couple episodes of a spin-off of "American Idol" called "American Juniors"?  It was basically an "American Idol" version with kids. I was hoping to find a clip on Youtube, but I couldn't find one. He was on that show around 2003.

Jordan held his own talent competition back in 2009 called "Jordan Idol":

But probably his best known TV talent show appearance was when he appeared on the Canadian Show "Cover Me Canada" in 2011. Here are some clips of Jordan's parts courtesy of yikes 77:

Jordan Knight and Nick Carter interviews

Yesterday's post was a collection NKOTBSB interviews. A few years later there was another New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys collaboration with one member from each group: Jordan Knight and Nick Carter. They released an album and toured under the name "Nick and Knight". Here's some interviews with the 2 of them!

NKOTB in Birmingham 2014

How fast these last few years have gone by! When I first started this blog several years ago I was thinking of sharing mostly videos and media  of the New Kids on the Block from approximately 1988 to 1994.  Now they have been reunited for nearly 14 years, so some of their early reunion content is now considered a "flashback". I admit I kind of forgot about this blog until recently, but I'm feeling nostalgic and ready to take a trip down memory lane!

I came across this video last night. I never got to see them preform these songs live - so thank goodness for YouTube!  Here are the New Kids On The Block performing a medley of the songs "I'll Be There", "Back For Good", "Careless Whisper", "Faith" and "Kiss" in Birmingham 2014. I would love to see them perform some different songs like these on their next tour in 2022.  Surprise us guys!

Thanks to Lisa Vine on YouTube for the video!
